New year

Everyone thought that as we reached 2021 the horrors that we faced in 2020 would just disappear. Now as we fast approach 2022 we are facing more restrictions and there is no end in sight. It is really difficult to think positively about the past year and the year ahead but I am feel relatively excited for 2022.

Towards the end of 2020 I started book folding. I decided to buy a pattern making software as I wanted to make my own designs and I have spent 2021 learning new methods of folding and working on my own techniques. I found that each book I created was better than the previous one. I’ve made mistakes but I have learnt from them and feel more confident with each one I create. I plan that 2022 will be a big year for my book folding, I have many ideas swimming inside my head, from simple designs to very intricate ones, I’m hoping to learn even more as I go.

Back in September I was lucky enough to be able to purchase a Cricut Maker 3, a cutting machine that has changed the way I craft. Despite crafting on and off most of my life I have struggled in recent years for inspiration. Since getting the Cricut I have used it for so many different projects including decorating my book folds, a 3D cat, shadow boxes (which I absolutely love making) and some greeting cards. I am filled with inspiration of other projects to work on in 2022.

Aside from crafting, I hope that 2022 will be a more positive year for me. I found 2021 tough, the constant worry, attempting to work out if a cough is just a cough, convinced that everything will go wrong. 2022 is going to be a new start for both physical and mental health. I think i need a fresh, better outlook on life so I will work hard on getting there. I just have to convince myself that there will be setbacks and that it doesn’t mean failure. A big ask but something to work on.

I think 2022 will remain a tough year for many people around the world, however closer to home I think I will be very content hiding away in my tiny craft room learning and making beautiful things, along with a big crafty mess.
