Diversify your Reading Challenge

Diversify Your Reading Challenge

I used to read all the time. I would always have a book on the go but lately I just stopped. I mean, I find myself re-reading Harry Potter a fair amount but haven’t read a new book in a long time.

One of my February goals was to read a book. I took this a little further and searched for some reading challenges I could do and came across a page that had hundreds, The Master List of 2019 Reading Challenges.

I was worried that it would take me the month to choose a challenge!

Luckily it didn’t.

I found the perfect challenge. One that only required me to read one book per month.

Diversify your Reading Challenge was devised by Kelly Mongan and is a very simple but fun looking challenge. There are so many different genres of books that I would not normally consider reading. This challenge will force me to explore these by assigning a different genre per month.

Now, I am a little late to the party. This challenge started in January so I missed out on biographies, normally I would wait and start at the very beginning next year, but I am trying to control my obsession for starting challenges right at the very beginning! So This challenge starts in February and Romance.

One thing I didn’t expect was for this to be a book group with optional set books and discussions over on Facebook, where Kelly has set up a dedicated group. This means I don’t have to do this challenge alone!

I’m not currently in a position where I can afford to purchase lots of books which is why I have now joined the library. This means I won’t be able to always read the books that are set by the group, but hopefully I will read the majority.

I’m not sure if I will write about each book I read or just one monthly post about the genre and the books I have read… I say books because it is the 12th February and I’m already on my second book! I haven’t ever written reviews on books before and I think it could be something I struggle with, so I will see how it goes.

I’m really looking forward to getting back into reading and maybe even making some new friends.
