Autumn Doodles: Finding Creativity in the Fall

On a crisp autumn afternoon, I felt inspired to bring a touch of the season into my crafting. The result was this beautiful Autumn Doodling design — a heart filled with all things autumn: leaves, acorns, pumpkins, and whimsical little details that remind me of cosy evenings and golden walks through falling leaves.

I really enjoyed working on this design. It felt calm and meditative, with each fold bringing the doodle heart to life one detail at a time.

Making the Book

This piece is an inverted (debossed) cut and fold design, coloured with black cardstock to make the lines and patterns pop beautifully against the pages.

I used a book with around 500 pages— a perfect size to hold the circular flow of the heart without distorting the shape. Each cut and fold came together smoothly, and I was able to focus on the relaxing rhythm of the craft rather than worrying about tricky sections.

What I especially loved about this one is its balance — detailed enough to feel intricate, yet simple enough to be approachable.

Colour & Creative Choices

Originally, I thought about colouring each little element within the heart, but in the end I decided to keep it monochrome with the black cardstock. I’m so glad I did — the simplicity allows the design to speak for itself and gives it a timeless, elegant finish.

Sometimes less truly is more, and this book is a lovely reminder of that.
