Making Waves: Pokémon #008 – Wartortle

Making Waves! 🌊 The 151 Pokémon Book Folding Challenge continues with #008, the fantastic Wartortle. For this middle evolution, I went back to basics with my scissors for a clean, monochrome cut and fold. By adding black card stock and skipping the colouring, those iconic fluffy ears and swooping tail really pop off the page. Click through to read about the build and see the final striking result!

Through the Lens: A Wild Day Out at Yorkshire Wildlife Park

Time to brush off the camera kit!📸 After taking a break from photography, I found the perfect spark during a trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park. It was a wild adventure exploring the vast habitats and capturing an incredible array of wildlife through my lens. The absolute highlight? Becoming obsessed with the majestic Polar Bears and capturing a (slightly out of focus) showdown between an angry meerkat and a bee! Dungeons & Dragons Inspired Dragon Eye Fold

After a short break, I’m back with a natural 20!🎲 To celebrate the Dungeons & Dragons theme in my Facebook group, I tackled this striking, inverted Dragon Eye book fold. I’m thrilled with how menacing it looks on the shelf. Read about the process, how I used AI tools for product shots, and grab the pattern!

The Flame Grows Hotter: Pokémon #005 Charmeleon (Pokémon Day Special Part 2!)

The Pokémon Day week celebration continues! Part two of the fire-starter trio release is here with #005 Charmeleon. Keeping with the theme of the week, this book features a completely different style to the pixelated Charmander from my previous post. Read on to see why I chose a sleek outline design to capture Charmeleon in mid-attack, and how I used Promarkers to bring the blast of fire he is shooting from his mouth to life!

A Retro Ignition: Pokémon #004 Charmander (Pokémon Day Special!)

Happy Pokémon Day week! To celebrate, I’m turning up the heat by releasing the entire fire-starter evolution family over the next few days, starting right now with #004 Charmander. For this build, I decided to switch things up and pay homage to the original games with a retro pixel-art design. Read on to find out why this “simple” blocky style was actually deceptively trickier to fold and colour than the smooth designs!

Completing the Trio: Pokémon #003 Venusaur

The first Pokémon evolution family is officially complete! To capture the bulk of #003 Venusaur, I needed a hefty 650-page book. But being such a “wide boy” brought its own problems, and annoying print margins nearly made me abandon this specific book entirely! Read on to see how I battled the paper to finish this massive fold.

Marching on Together! ⚽ Recently, I was delighted to receive a custom commission for a Leeds United book from a lovely customer who had received one of my previous folds as a gift. It was a pleasure to remake this iconic crest for a fellow fan of “The Whites”—humming the tune while I worked, of course! Read on to see how the detailed Yorkshire rose turned out in paper form.
