A Retro Ignition: Pokémon #004 Charmander (Pokémon Day Special!)

Happy Pokémon Day week! To celebrate, I’m turning up the heat by releasing the entire fire-starter evolution family over the next few days, starting right now with #004 Charmander. For this build, I decided to switch things up and pay homage to the original games with a retro pixel-art design. Read on to find out why this “simple” blocky style was actually deceptively trickier to fold and colour than the smooth designs!

Completing the Trio: Pokémon #003 Venusaur

The first Pokémon evolution family is officially complete! To capture the bulk of #003 Venusaur, I needed a hefty 650-page book. But being such a “wide boy” brought its own problems, and annoying print margins nearly made me abandon this specific book entirely! The massive challenge has begun! To mark Pokémon’s upcoming 30th anniversary, I have started my mission to book fold all original 151 Generation 1 Pokémon.
