Gotta Fold ’Em All! A Pokémon Wedding Keepsake

The Gift Idea

My partner, Marc, was recently invited to his friend’s wedding. I asked what he was going to give as a gift, and he replied, “You could make a book.”
Pretty obvious if you think about it!

Both Marc and his friend, Paul, are big Pokémon people. They’re not just fans — they’re Pokémon Professors! So of course, the book had to be Pokémon-themed. I sent Marc on a little recon mission to find out the couple’s favourite Pokémon, and he returned with the crucial info: Shinx and Bulbasaur.

Creating the Design

I wanted to keep this book quite simple, so I added an outline of each Pokémon, along with their names and the date of the wedding. I added black cardstock to emphasise the lines of the design.

I did consider adding colour with markers, but with all the fine details around Bulbasaur’s eyes, I didn’t want to risk making a mistake. I decided to keep it classic and clean — sometimes less really is more!

I’m so happy with how this book turned out — and I’m told that Paul and Tatum absolutely loved their gift. It’s always such a joy to see something personal and handmade evolve into a keepsake that “Eevee-ryone” will treasure forever.
