November Round-Up: A Quiet Month with Little Highlights Along the Way

November has been one of those slightly “meh” months — not terrible, not amazing, just a bit slow and unsettled. But even in a quieter month, there were still some lovely moments worth sharing.

Crafting

Surprise, surprise… Pokémon took over my crafting table again! I’ve been working on an Eeveelution book as a gift for a Secret Santa, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. This one was fun because I used different coloured acrylic paint pens to bring each evolution to life, and it made the whole design stand out beautifully.

Pokémon also made an appearance on some Christmas cards I made for Marc’s Pokémon friends. I bought a design from Etsy thinking it would be a nice quick make… but it turned out to be like doing a very fiddly jigsaw puzzle — actually sixteen fiddly jigsaw puzzles! They took ages, but they looked great once finished.

Over in my Facebook group, November’s theme was Winter Landscapes, so I added a few more patterns to the files for everyone to enjoy. Even though I didn’t make a themed book myself this month, I loved seeing what everyone else created.

Photography

My camera barely saw daylight in November. Between colds, toothaches, and just feeling run-down, I didn’t feel up to taking a dedicated photography trip. I did, however, take a few photos around Hull during a visit — nothing fancy, just quick captures on my phone, but sometimes that’s enough to scratch the creative itch.

Real Life

Even though it was a quieter month, there were a couple of lovely highlights.

The first was an amazing joint birthday and Christmas present from Marc — a brand new PC! It’s already made such a huge difference. I can work on patterns, edit photographs, and even play games whenever I want, without having to wait for the right moment. It has genuinely been a game changer.

The second highlight was going to see Wicked: For Good with my two favourite people. We had a Nando’s first (good food and a proper catch-up), then headed to the cinema. We absolutely loved the film and had such a brilliant night together.

As for the rest of the month… it was mostly colds, dentist trips, and feeling a bit worn down. Just when I thought I was over the cold, it came back again. The dentist visits were nerve-wracking, but definitely worth it in the end.

On a brighter note, I’m now on Week 6 of the weight loss injections and things are going really well. Apart from a bit of tummy ache here and there, I’ve had no real side effects. I’m thrilled with the progress — 18lbs down already — and I feel so much better for it. I can walk further and faster now, and everyday things feel noticeably easier.

Looking Ahead to December

And now… December! Somehow 2025 is almost over. I’m planning for it to be a month full of crafting and setting things up for the year ahead.

Our Facebook group’s theme for December is Clocks and Pocket Watches, so I’ve added some patterns to the files. I’m hoping to make a working clock book, which is something I’ve wanted to try for a while. I’m a bit nervous about getting it right, but I’m excited too — and I’ll definitely write about the process once I dive in.

Here’s to a creative, cosy, and much less “meh” December!

I’d love to know what you’ve been up to this month!

  1. Love your article!

It is inspirational with all your achievements. Slowly day by day we can tackle the “to do” list and feel a sense of peace that the creative mind has been satisfied. More importantly knowing the joy that your crafts will bring to the receiver.

Thank you for sharing your journey this month.

  2. Such a lot to fit in, and to say a slow month, its great to see the highlights and positivity. The crafts are out of this world already, now a new PC too, glad this brings ease and more exciting projects. Cinema trip was loved by the girls, a definite highlight here too. Great to hear the dentist conquering! Bring on December x
